Because I need to smell nice on our wedding day.

On Saturday morning I looked at my wedding to do list, freaked out, sipped on my coffee, looked at it again and then talked myself into feeling at ease. We still have a little bit to do for our big day, but I have chosen not turn into a crazy bride and flip the hell out. I don’t want to scare the guy away, before I lock that shit down, right?

Midway down my list I had written “Wedding Day Perfume”. To me smell is the greatest trigger of memory. For instance; Dolce and Gabbana “The One” takes me back to early 2008 when I lived on the Gold Coast, Golden Panache reminds me of my Mum, Talc reminds me of my late Gran, J-Lo Glow reminds me of bad High School decisions, Paris Hilton’s Eau De Parfum Spray reminds me of suffocating – or maybe it’s the fact I would rather suffocate than wear that ever again and Joop reminds me of every pre-pubescent male in my year 9 class at school – oh the smell of sweat mixed with cheap male cologne.

I picked up a few different scents online the other day from Perfume Clearance Centre – I wanted to trial them and wear them on different days to see what I would most likely choose for the nuptials!

I knew I wanted something light, bright and floral based. I don’t like heavy perfumes, or the type that you can still taste in the air when someone has left the room – cue coughing up both lungs. Discreet scents work best, unless you’re the guy on the train with me the other day – no amount of perfume was too much, same goes for showers.

The Decision

YSL Parisienne

Parisienne is a crisp floral fragrance with a prominent scent of rose.I have had this one before and I adore it. It’s such a great every day scent!

Available here.

Narciso Rodriguez L’eau For Her Eau De Toilette

This is a soft floral fragrance with prominent notes of musk.

Available here.

Elie Saab Le Parfum Eau De Parfum

This one is a floral oriental fragrance with a radiant, white flower Jasmine scent.

Available here.

The travel size ones!

I totally underestimated the power of travel size perfume until all my overseas trips lately. They come in so handy! Below is a small selection of Issey Miyake and Jean Paul Gaultier.

The final decision

Drumroll and all that jazz – I will be wearing YSL Parisienne on our wedding day! Too good.
