Out of nowhere Winter began. If my complaining is anything to go by, it’s like this is the first Winter I’ve ever experienced.

Complaining aside, Winter is actually one of my favourite seasons when it comes to style and fashion. I know I am probably in the minority there, but I love knits, coats and layering. In Winter you get to push a few more fashion boundaries than in Summer because outfits take a little more thought.

MY WINTER SURVIVAL KIT

These three pieces create such a dynamic look and something I will be reaching for when the temperature continues to drop. They’re fail safe pieces that I can create endless combinations with, that will get me through Winter.

OVER-SIZED WOOLEN JUMPERS

It’s so easy just to throw on a bunch of clothes, but the aim is to keep warm but still look stylish.

My first item in my Winter style survival kit is definitely this jumper my Mother so loving made last year for my Birthday, after me continuously asking for one. She tried to teach me to knit, but then I’m like “Teach a woman to knit and she’ll give up after five rows; have a mother who can knit and you’ll have a lifetime surplus of jumpers, beanies, scarfs et al.” Okay, that “teach a person to fish” quote didn’t really translate, but ya know. My Mum also sells all these things on her Etsy store! She’s a talented lady and today also happens to be her birthday.

Ha, Mum I know you’ll be reading this. Hi.

SNEAKERS

The past few Winters I have lived in ankle boots, but I can’t seem to find any that I am absolutely loving this season. They all look similar to ones I have had in the past or they’re to plain to warrant the $200+ price tag. This Winter I will be living in sneakers.

TAILORED PANTS

This season I will be living in tailored pants. They pair so well with oversized jumpers and elevate an outfit so easily. They can be worn casually or formally – I love versatile pieces.

OVER THE KNEE BOOTS

I have a flat pair and a high heel pair and I have already been wearing them a lot. So cosy and they add such a great edge to any outfit.

HERE’S WHAT I WILL UPDATING THIS WINTER

Things I need to buy…

  • Basic T-shirts and a new white shirt
  • Light coloured knits
  • Navy coat
  • Masculine cuts pants
  • Longer lined jumpers
  • Denim – but that goes without saying!
