I believe that everyone can look amazing in red lipstick – it’s all about choosing the colour and the texture that suits you.

There is something empowering about wearing red. It always gives me a confidence boost. I could have barely there makeup on, but as soon as I pop a coat of red on something comes over me. I automatically feel put together – that is, if it hasn’t transferred to my teeth.

I normally wear a matte red – MAC lady danger all the way. Recently I have been giving a luxe satin finish red a go, after all it’s fun to mix things up.

After washing and moisturising your face, apply a primer. At the moment I am loving the Infallible matte primer by L’Oreal, but you can literally use whatever you have on hand.

I then use one pump of my NARS Luminous foundation. I should probably head into Mecca or Sephora in the next week to buy a new foundation for Winter. This felt a little too dry on my skin.

Peace sign optional.

You’ve heard me RAVE about this miracle wand by Charlotte Tilbury before. I use this every day (that and my YSL Touche Eclat). I apply this under my eyes and down the centre of my nose. My shade is 2!

Brow time and for this look I decided to go with a wax and powder for a more natural look. If you like a more defined brow opt for a pencil or pomade. I use Browzing by Benefit.

See, unruly brows. Again!

I love these matte shade. They’re so perfect for day time when you don’t want to sparkle like Edward Cullen. Is that his name? I know nothing. These are by The Balm and they’re the bomb. Yes, I am pretty sure I am the first person to come up with that.

Work the lightest brown shade into your crease. You could also use a matte bronzer for this.

Next up: This incredible pot of gold by Charlotte Tilbury. I like these pots because they’re so simple to use. Even I can use them. Pop some of this onto your lid then blend out any harsh lines.

Super pigmented. It’s like all our makeup prayers were answered.

Annnnd then smoke it our underneath.

I have a confession: I hated blush until I bought this one. It’s a really soft colour and it doesn’t make me look like I just ran up 12 flights of stairs. I love Nars Reckless. I find the cult colour of “Orgasm” (first time that word has been on my blog), a little too harsh for me.

Apply to the apples. You know the deal.

Usually this would come straight after the eyeshadow, but I got all flustered. Shooting yourself do makeup is tough. Apply a thin coat. This look is all about the lips! I’m using the Marc Jacobs Mascara at the moment and LOVE. And I am sure I am not alone.

This highlighter from Mecca is so, so great. Just take a look at that glow.

This glow. This is the glow. Apply to the cheekbones and all the other usual suspects.

I have always loved red but have felt over the past six months the one I had been using wasn’t working for me. This red lipstick applies quite thin, so you need to apply a lot to be able to get a good coverage. I love the colour and the way it wears. Marilyn RUBY Red by Maxfactor.

Precision is key! I love my travel lip brush I bought from MAC years ago best!

I hope you liked this simple and effect look! I feel like it’s a look everyone can pull off!
