This look is simple and quick – I love a neutral look with a bold lip. It’s so perfect for Summer, day or night. Perfect for brunettes and blondes!

Yesterday I decided to take photos of my make-up look I wore to a Benefit Cosmetics event and to then see Nigella Lawson at the Opera House with friends. I didn’t think this through very well. It was 39C, but it felt like it was at least 50C under a light. Stupid, stupid Ally.
I’m not a make-up artist (obviously), but I love make-up and creating looks with make-up. Here’s what works for me. Don’t judge my skills or slap it on approach.
This look is simple and quick – I love a neutral look with a bold lip. It’s so perfect for Summer, day or night.
STEP 1
Cleanse, then moisturise your face. Today I used the Musq moisturiser Gel because it’s so hot and this is really lightweight. It’s great under makeup and to absorb extra shine, so perfect on days like today!! Why does it have to be so hot. I may or may not be writing this in a bra and undies because I have no air-conditioning. #Keepingtheclammylevelsdown

STEP 2
Next up: Primer. I have been using the Benefit “Porefesional” Primer for roughly two months now and I love it. It’s velveting and blends into the skin quite well. At first I thought it was a little too think, but that was in comparison to the Mac Prep and Prime one I was wearing before. They’re completely different textures.
STEP 3
I’ve been using MAC studio fix for years. Recently I bought this Rimmel Match Perfection foundation and a NARS foundation – both raved about on YouTube so I just had to see what all the hype was about. I totally get it because both foundations are great. It is a light to medium coverage which is buildable. Note the finish in two images time (concealer pic). My hairdresser asked me “What do you have on your skin” when I saw her last and all I have was this foundation and bronzer! Glowing skin – trust me!
This one gives a realllllly dewy glow so probably better for days that aren’t 39C. No one likes a dripping wet complexion.
STEP 4
After applying foundation and setting with powder (I did take a photo of this but I looked somewhere between drunk and in pain so it didn’t make the cut) fill in those brows of yours. I used the Benefit Browzing palette. It’s a wax and powder. I use different products each day, but for this look I went with a wax and powder. It’s such a great product. I also like the Model Co one which is quite similar!
STEP 5
I concealed under my eye (cos I wanted to look like I had more than 6 hrs sleep) and above my brows. I just learned this trick and so far I am loving it. I used the Urban Decay Naked concealer in a shade lighter than the foundation. It’s a good coverage concealer, but can crease easily so make sure you set it!
STEP 6
Setting my concealer with a Jurlique translucent powder. IT SMELLS LIKE HEAVEN. Or what I assume heaven smells like.

STEP 7
One of my favourite things to do is use a bronzer in my crease when I am going for a really subtle look. It’s easy and it creates a nice shadow and gives my eyes a good amount of definition. I used a Benefit Bronzer.
STEP 8
Gimme them Rosie Hungtington-Whiteley cheekbones. I used the Benefit Bronzer – this is such a nice shade for people with paler skin like me! It blends really well.
STEP 9
Using a lighter shade, I put this on the lid of my eye and then blended so there wasn’t a harsh line. I love using the combination of the bronzer and this shade! It is a shade by L’Oreal – 207 Snow in Megeve. Such a lovely highlighter for the inner corner of your eye too!
STEP 10
Then take the bronzer and smoke out the underneath of your eye. This brings the entire look together!
STEP 11
There’s never a nice way to take a photo of curling your lashes. I always feel like I look crazy. Anyhoo – curl those lashes!

STEP 12
Give your lashes a double coat of mascara – I used the L’Oreal False Lash Wings. I like the finished product but I really don’t like silicone brushes. It just doesn’t coat lashes as well as the bristle ones!
STEP 13
Second last step is to high light and bronzer again if you don’t think you got it right the first time…And I probably didn’t. I used this duo from L’Oreal. I think it’s called the L’Oreal Glam Bronzer and it’s great for blondes!
STEP 14
This Kat Von D lipstick is RIDICULOUSLY GREAT. The pigment is so nice! It’s the shade “Backstage Bambi” and I loooove it!
STEP 15
All done. Simple. Easy and Quick!

Oh man, that’s the one thing I dislike about Sydney; its lack of air-conditioning in apartments! And the traffic, but hey, kind of almost used to that here in Perth. Uhg.
Looking beautiful as always Ally! Loved this photo tutorial. And that pink lippy is stunning!
