How To: The Faux Freckle

The easiest way to look fresh-faced and undone – follow on for my effortlessly freckled look…

THE FAUX FRECKLE

I am not a make-up artist – I just love makeup. I have been seeing a lot of people I follow create faux freckles lately for their “natural make-up” looks so I thought I would try it out for myself and see if it a) looks any good b) if it was too hard to recreate.

You will need:

  1. Brown eyebrow pencil
  2. Dark brown eye shadow
  3. Light brown eye shadow
  4. Angled eyeliner brush
  5. Either a beauty blender or your finger

I am a pretty freckly person, so it was funny to be adding freckles in. It seemed kind of redundant, but, like anything with makeup it’s fun to experiment.

It’s pretty simple. All you have to do is wet your angled brush and use the pointy end to create freckle like dots. If I can do it, you can too. I found that switching between shades of shadow and product made for the most natural look. I then went in with my Real Technique sponge to blur them a little – freckles are more often than not faded, so be sure to blend them a little. If you stuff up your dots, just wipe it off or apply a little bit of concealer to fix it.

Try to keep to the outer edges of your nose, cheeks and forehead – this is where freckles most likely form, thus making your end result look a lot more natural.

What are your thoughts? Would you try this out?
