For as long as I can remember I’ve never really had a specific routine when it comes to my hair. I do my best to listen to my hair and its needs day by day. If it feels dry I put a treatment through it. If it’s oily, I wash it. It’s not very methodical and I am quite the lazy gal. The most attention I put into my hair is honestly the colour – I get bored easily as you may have guessed and I have changed mine so often. It’s the complete opposite to the way I treat my skin, which is weird in a way. It deserves ultra-nourishment and as much attention as you put into your skin.
When it comes to haircare I have always chosen brands and products that have been suggested, what I have seen others using or what is on sale at Priceline/Woolworths. I have probably always been a little too dismissive and relaxed – maybe a little ignorant as well. I think the reason behind this is because we all think we’re doing “enough” and that all hair in a way is the “same”. We all do our best to interpret what the labels are saying – Do you need to thicken? Do you need to deep cleanse? Your guess is as good as mine.
The main mistakes I am guilty of is thinking my hair needs to be washed, brushed, saturated in chemicals and heat every single day. Other than the occasional treatment I have never really known how to then restore and transform my hair, so when Wella asked me to come to their studio in Surry Hills for an expert consultation in December I was very eager to learn more.
Wella explained to me that their System Professional team has discovered that each individuals hair has its own “Hair Energy” profile that is as unique as a fingerprint, and that hair can be visibly transformed via a revolutionary new EnergyCode™ Complex.
I sat down with a System Professional stylist from The Fox & The Hair salon, and he assessed my hair energy, i.e.: the quality of my hair, scalp and asked me a series of easy questions on System Professional’s EnergyCode Mapping® app to diagnose the products that would be the most beneficial for my hair. Each product within this range is inspired by luxury skincare and boasts five naturally occurring active lipids and other powerful ingredients that instantly boosts hair quality and feel and helps restore hair’s energy for hair that is strong, responsive and virgin-like with regular use. It was so interesting to learn about my hair, much like you would your skin going to a dermatologist. It is something I would never have imaged to be possible.
My personal energy code is: H1+B3+L4+x4L+R5. This means I need Hydrate Shampoo (H1), Balance Mask (B3), Liquid Hair – a molecular hair re-filling treatment (x4L), Luxeoil Reconstructive Elixir (L4) and Repair Perfect Hair- a structural strengthening foam (R5). After this was diagnosed I received a treatment tailored to this (oh and the most heavenly massage!!!)
I am now a month into using the prescribed products and I really feel a change in my hair. As I was blonde for a year and only recently became a brunette, my hair is quite porous and the ends tend to fall on the dry end of the scale – but with the consistent use of the new System Professional range I am on my way to having stronger, healthy hair again! It feels so amazing to have soft hair again!
Stay tuned to hear more about how my hair looks and feels another month into using System Professional. Think of it as a little experiment for you guys! Also; Wella are helping me undergo a colour transformation this month – I am super excited for something new. (I gave you a sneak peek yesterday, so head to my Instagram stories before they disappear: @allymayhayward).
I hope this has been super helpful to you – for more either comment in the section below or head to Wella to find your nearest System Professional salon to experience transformative hair care.
