Excited to bring you a close look at the exciting new Active range from Country Road.

I love new gym clothes nearly as much as I love clean sheets and fresh (white) bread. They’re just one of those pleasures in life that get you every single time. They boost my mood and motivate me to sweat it out on days I just want to eat a whole tub of ice-cream, a block of chocolate and a packet of Monte Carlos.

Country Road have just launched their new Active range and it is just beautiful. The range boasts hues of mint, metallic accents, fresh white, monochromatic prints and the perfect shade of grey.

The Country Road Active range truly marries style and functionality. These days you can’t just get away with workout gear being functional – a woman needs to feel a million dollars in what she is wearing and she needs to be able to go from gym to coffee without having to get changed.

There are six key areas in the Country Road Active range – of course you can mix and match to your own style, but let me run you through each of my looks – I have broken them down into the perfect categories (plus giving you a li’l exercise for each).

Resistance band training

Resistance band around a tree: Elastic resistance bands are one of the best possible types of exercise equipment to bring along to an outdoor session! They’re so small and you can just throw them in your bag or sling them around your neck.

For chest presses, loop the band around the tree and hold one end of the band in each hand; face away from the tree to do chest presses, or toward it to do rows.

REPS: 4 lots of 10

Kettlebells! They’re awesome – you know this already!

Kettlebell Figure-8
Targets: Arms, back, abs
How to: Start with legs a bit wider than hip-width distance apart, and lower yourself into a quarter-squat position. (Keep that back straight and chest up!) Grab the kettlebell with the left hand and swing it around the outside of the left leg and then back between the legs. Do the same with your right arm – Keep this motion going!!

REPS: 4 lots of ten each arm

Soft sand running

Mix things up and go for a run on soft sand at the beach! Your body weight causes you to sink into the sand, so for efficient soft sand running, try to stay light on your feet. Pro tip: Don’t run barefoot on hard, wet sand. It’s worse for your body than running on concrete. OUCH! Be sure to warm up for 10 minutes and then transition into a light jog.

Yoga goodness

Don’t underestimate the power of yoga! I’ve never tried this move below, but thought it was fitting considering the location!

The Dolphin

Get on all fours with your hands directly under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. Lower your forearms to the floor, then walk them forward until your elbows rest directly under your shoulders. Lace your fingers together and press your forearms into the sand (A). Curl your toes under and lift your hips toward the sky until you’re in a pike. Hold for five to 15 breaths. Rest for five breaths (B). Repeat, but this time, once you’re in the pike position, lift your right leg behind you, keeping your hips parallel to the ground. Hold for five to 15 breaths (C). Lower your leg and rest for five breaths before repeating with your left leg.

High Intensity Interval Sprints

5 minutes: Warm up at an easy-moderate pace

4-5 minutes: Baseline: Increase speed gradually to a comfortable, moderate pace

5 minutes: Sprint all out as fast as you can

5 minutes: Reduce speed to a comfortable pace to fully recover

30 seconds: Sprint all out as fast as you can

4.5 minutes: Reduce speed to a comfortable pace to fully recover
