I thought it would be fun to show you a little insight into a large fashion show – from the hair to the clothing, to the backstage antics and also what I wore and how I styled my hair for the night!

What a huge week!

I’ve had a lot of projects on this week, as well as shoots and events in between, so a lot to juggle all at once. I wouldn’t have it any other way though. On Wednesday night I attended the David Jones SS16 event and on Thursday (yesterday) I held my very first event with David Jones in front of a crowd, for their cardholder event! What an experience!

I thought it would be fun to show you a little insight into a large fashion show – from the hair to the clothing, to the backstage antics and also what I wore and how I styled my hair for the night!

MY HAIR

On Wednesday evening I went backstage before the show for a look at the hair trends, makeup looks and clothing. As I was walking in Sophie from Aveda asked me what I wanted to do with my hair – without realising the looks for the models for the show, I opted for a sleek do (a safe choice with the horrible weather)! I then found out that the models were all sporting sleek buns and sleek ponytails, so it all tied in perfectly.

BACKSTAGE

Backstage is always crazy – there are always a million people racing around trying to finalise things and get organised for the impending show. When I was modeling, I used to love the energy. I love people watching, so seeing everyone doing their job is fascinating.

I do miss that about modeling – the production side of things, which is why I love working on content and creative direction. I really like brainstorming, coming up with the concept and then seeing a project finish.

Here is moments before the show began…

THE HAIR

Aveda was the official hair partner of the evening – the look reflected David Jones’ theme of Endless Possibilities. I loved the contemporary, sleek looks. They were polish, but offered the right amount of edge to each piece. Kudos to Creative Director Terri Robertson-Kirkwood.

These two looks are so easy to create at home as well, which was a huge appeal to me. Sometimes runway trends are tricky and unless you’re a hair master they’re too hard to recreate.

MY FAVOURITE LOOKS

White was a huge out for me – it’s such a fresh look for spring & summer, after months of dark hues and winter blacks. I love the relaxed fit wide leg pants, intricate lace detailing and of course, the more tomboy inspired pieces. White sneakers paired with everything  – that goes without saying.
