I think I took around 6,000 photos while I was away. Thank god for portable hard-drives. I guess that’s the beauty of digital, you can just take as many photos as you want. The detriment to that is, I have a lot of crap too. Countless shots that are out of focus, over exposed, shotily composed, et al. But even with the images that will inevitably find themselves in my digital trash-can, they still evoke emotion and I can sense the time and place I took them. I can feel the heat, I can sense the person and it takes me back to that brief moment in time.

I have always loved to take photos, but it’s easy to let your passions and hobbies fall by the wayside. Thailand had me inspired and reconnect with my creativity – something that had become a little stagnant the past couple of months because I have been going through some personal things.

I think it is so important for everyone to reconnect with their hobbies and passions, whether it be an outlet for escape, personal expression, exploration or distraction. It’s a great way to work through things like life problems… Often these moments in your life are the perfect time to tap into all of your outlets to make sense of everything, construct a new normal, and redefine your sense of self. What you will find when engaging your passions is that they have such an amazing impact on your physical and metal health.

So with today’s post, I want you to ask yourself: What is it you love to do?ย  And do you do it regularly?

I hope you enjoy a little insight into my time in Bangkok. I have a few travel guides drafted for you all. So stay tuned!

  1. I have a lot of hobbies. Some people were willing to pay me to do one of them, so I do that a lot ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ“ท. Other hobbies people are definitely NOT willing to pay me to do, so I don’t do them as much but I try – I try to get to a dance class at least once a fortnight (which is still not often enough but I’m also poor… cos people won’t pay me to dance). Glad you had fun on your trip. Shoot film next time – it forces all those mistakes away! I shoot all my personal stuff on film now. Xx

  2. LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEE BANGKOK! I’ve been I think 5 or 6 times during my travels – you captured the ~feel~ of the place and city!. Keep taking photos Ally!. My passions/ hobbies are writing and running – if I let either fall by the wayside for too long I don’t feel right and get physically aggy. We have to keep our passions alive ๐Ÿ™‚
