My roundup of must-have pieces beautifully fuse Parisian chic with the Australian ease Country Road is known for. From gorgeous velvets, to silk textures and luxe chunky merino wool; these are the best wardrobe staples to have on hand this season as they are versatile, flattering, and add a certain level of polish to any look.

No matter how much clothing you have in your closet, you’ve probably felt like you just can’t figure out what matches, or what really “works” together. So, how are you supposed pick just one texture to wear, on any given winter day? The answer is simple: cheat, and wear them all together.

Mix and match. Repeat.

A velvet dress pairs beautifully with the crisp fabric of a bomber jacket; the juxtaposition between the two fabrics creates visual interest and just works. Silk on silk pared back with the chunky knit creates balance. Velvet and silk is an unbeatable combination and definitely not out of the question. And when it comes to denim, nothing works better than pairing it with a luxe, oversized button-up. All of these looks can be added to; simply layer some outer-wear of your choice as the mercury begins to drop.

Styling tricks that will get you through the cooler months – eyebrows and cheeks done, silk for the win and where all else fails layer a bomber jacket to add depth and a street edge to any outfit

When it comes to everyday outfit choices, I mainly dress for meetings or regular days at the office, but I also try and incorporate life after work into what I’m wearing. If I know I have an event or dinner to attend, I try to coordinate accordingly.

When it comes to denim this season, cropped styles are so much more fun to play around with and to style – socks, ankle-height boots, or just a little bare ankle can go a long way (my favourite!)

When it comes to putting a look together, do you start from the shoes and then work your way up, or clothes and then down? I always begin with shoes as this helps me form an entire look in my head. This season Country Road loafers and the perfect black ankle boots will see you through day and night.

I hope today has given you some fresh Autumn / Winter inspiration and made your wardrobe decisions so much easier.

  1. You guys did such an incredible job of this! Congratulations! I love the Parisian meets Australian aesthetic, it’s exactly what I am after. Those silks look beautiful, you captured that sheen so well. Loving the mood and mix of homewares in here too, it captures the aesthetic completely.
