Backstage, hair and make-up and walking for adidas…
I began modeling when I lived in Queensland and it was a great way to build my confidence and learn a lot about the fashion industry. I didn’t ever really see myself heading in that direction when I was at school – I had terrible skin and the thinnest eyebrows in the world – I am surprised I didn’t slice people’s faces off with them.
I was signed by a good agency in Brisbane after going in to see them in 2009. I can still picture what I wore: Dotti Jeans, Insight singlet and horrible green kitten wedges – definitely not an off-duty model look to replicate. I booked my first cover shoot with Style Magazine the next week and was terrified to shoot it because it was a bikini shoot and I had never posed before. From that shoot onwards I decided that the modeling world might be a fun one to be a part of and it has been a fun journey in the last few years (yes even the sides of the industry I hate). I have since dropped my agency and self manage clients because my blog is my full-time job now and it was beginning to get tricky with the whole commission thing and what jobs I could book on my own through my blog. It may be something I revisit later on, but at the moment I love managing my own work.
Last week I had the pleasure of walking for adidas in their A/W15 show. I brought JD along to get some photos so you could see an exclusive look backstage and of the show.
It was such a fun afternoon / night and it’s always so great working with the adidas team!!
There are some killer new pieces coming out next year that you’re going to want to get your hands on – I know I definitely want to buy some Stella McCartney pieces as well as some adidas slide with skulls on them!!
I hope you all have a great weekend! Big love to my online family.
